Education in Catalonia

The countries in the world have very different customs and every country follows the education that it wants, for this reason the education in the world is very different. Moreover in Europe there are classifications and this depends on the economic system of the country.

In the case of Spain it is at the bottom of the list referring to education and economic system. Catalonia is an example of the bad system of education. That this fact caused by immigration and the system that the government has introduced. The immigration is a very important factor because a lot of people have come here to live and these people don’t study, because their religion is different from ours.

I agree that some high schools separate the classes into levels, in this way the students who want to study work harder and study more and for the students who have more difficulty studying the level is lower. The education system in Catalonia should change and perhaps be more like the system in Germany, for example, which is much better.

Crisis

Taxes are going up, unemployment is going up, the stock exchange is falling, the companies are starting close down, there is social uneasiness… these are same negative effects of the crisis.

Everything began at the end of 2007, when the north American banks started failing, the banks gave loans and people couldn’t pay them banks, and consequently people lost their homes or businesses.

After, the crisis came to Europe, and set of the alarms in banks, immediately the stock exchange fell.

In Spain the case is similar to USA, banks have given loans and people can’t pay them back, but the people here use the money of the loans for building, when flats are built the people don’t buy there flats, in consequence the seller couldn’t get money for pay the loan. And banks were repossessing the flats. Along with this the stock exchange is falling.

Today, Spain is the last countries in getting over the crisis. Govern says that we are getting over, but the people don’t think the same.

In my point of view, I think that we can’t continue of this from, because the country will reach a point, that people will burst and govern have serious problems.

The Pianist

Wladyslaw Azplman is the main character of this drama. He is a well known Polish pianist. He lives in Warsaw with his family, they are Polish Jews. When the war starts all the family is sent to a ghetto in Warsaw with other Jews and he earns his living playing the piano in bars and cafes.

Then the family is separated and they are sent to different concentration camps, some of this family dies in the camps.

Wladyslaw escapes from the camp and some people help him to hide. He lives in different apartments and his friends bring him food. After a time, nobody comes and he goes to another house, because the Germans are very near. He hides in this house, but then the Germans come. A Germans captain friends him but he doesn't tell anybody and he gives him some food. Later the Americans and British arrive and the war finishes. Wladyslaw is saved but most of his family has died.

This film won three Oscars; for the best actor, the best director and the best script. In my opinion this is a very interesting film, because it shows us how the Jews lived during the war, but there are scenes that are very shocking. I liked this film because it is about real life and it makes you think a lot. The director of this film was Roman Polanski, he was Polish and he lived in Poland during the Nazi invasion.

New technologies

Internet, mobile phones, consoles, MP3 players, etc... There are new technologies that affect our lives, the lives of teenagers. For us them the new technologies are like radio for the other people. Moreover we use every day, to communicate with friends to search information, to download music for ourselves ...
How would our life be without the new technologies? I cannot imagine how life would be without such devices, but maybe without these devices, our life would change a lot because, for example what young people would do in their free time without the computer or being unable to listen to music. And besides, we have changed a lot compared to what we did years ago.
I also think it is difficult to imagine how these technologies will be in a few years time because these technologies evolve very quickly and soon new and old are the others ones will appear to replace the old ones.

Winging it

Since 1995 a lot of airports in Europe have low-cost flights. An example is Girona, its airport has low-cost flights and this caused that the demand has increased. And this fact has made bigger airports do the same, like the case of Barcelona airport.

In my opinion I agree that there should be low-cost companies because not everybody can afford the price of a plane ticket, moreover these companies do flights anytime of the day or night, and this fact causes that this enterprise obtains more benefits therefore bigger. Normally in this market there is a market monopolist, this means that one company has the power and other companies have to put their prices depending on this company, and with companies at low-coast doing this it isn’t so noticeable. For example in Spain the most important company is Iberia, it has the power, but nowadays this has changed. There are enterprises like Ryanair, which is a low-coast company.

For me this change is best, because I often go to Canarias. If it wasn’t because of these low cost flights I wouldn’t be able to travel so often, so in my opinion it is a very positive and favorable system.

Research Project

Like every year the students of second Batxillerat have doing the research project that counts a 10% of the mark of Batxillerat. At the end of the first year you choose the topic, and in my case I have chosen the study of a company, because I am interested in this world and when I finish Batxillerat I will study Business Administration. So I have chosen Garcia de Pou S.A, it is a company in Ordis (Alt Empordà) that manufactures and sells hostelry products not food. Years ago this company was in Figueres, but the company continued evolutioning and for insufficiency of space in 2004 it was moved in to Ordis.

The project is based on a study of different areas of the company, but in particular on the production area, because I met the manager of this area and he provided the information.

In summer I started the project, but as I worked all the holidays I couldn’t do too much.  I really started at the end of the summer, so

Now I am a bit behind. Moreover now it is when I have more exams and so I am stressed, but I think that I will finish the research project. I’m sure I will do it.
